炭火烧串银 Kushigin @ Cuppage Plaza

Was walking from Ken Noodles @ Orchard Plaza when I saw Kushigin. We looked in and saw it was quite full and this restaurant serves japanese grilled skewered stuff..interesting.

Here we are on a Monday. We placed an order for Set C, fugu kaarage and tsukune(chicken meatballs).

On a monday night, it was pretty quiet and the restaurant was blasting thai songs that the Grasshoppers sang back in 1990s OMG -_-''

Overall feel.

Took a pic of "Today's Special" so as to get a feel of prices. Pretty average prices.

Starters. Lemon for squeezing, miso paste and salt for dipping the ice cool veggie in. Cabbage is meant to be peeled and eaten on its own or with miso/salt.

The appetiser. FANTASTIC~ it reeks of bonito flavour, with some tingling spiciness from the spring onions at the bottom. In between, there's roe and some fish meat put together with some melt in your mouth jelly. *SLURP*

Our side order - poisonous fish, fugu. I took my camera, focused on K and ask,"What do u wanna say for your last words?" Mind you, some people died from eating fugu ok..
Fugu kaarage was very fragrant, not sure if it was due to the batter. But we are sure that it has only been coated slightly with thin batter before frying.
Fried fugu tastes like fillet O fish -___-

Close up on the texture.

Included in the set was sashimi. Salmon belly, tuna and tako.

Then came the charcoal stove for our hotpot..interesting pot.

Included in the set, pork + tofu stew pot. Not bad, quite a nice soup base.

The main stars from Top: Pork with garlic pieces; chicken heart; bacon with lady's finger; grilled quail egg; chicken with leek. And a side order, tsukune.
I ate the grilled lady's finger cos it wasn't slimy this time round =D

Our fav were chicken heart, bacon with lady's finger, pork with garlic. These 3 were great!

Oh and there came a salad..from the set. Normal.

Self made mochi with non sweetened red bean. Slurp~

Overall damage with svc charge and gst was $66. Abit expensive to me but quite a new experience. On average, each skewer costs less than $3, more than $2.50. Ordering skewered items may be more worthed it.

However, the japanese ambience is lacking alittle in the restaurant and the ordering crew didnt understand tsukune at first and I thought he was a Japanese *cos he looks like one* but he wasn't. o.O And of course, playing thai songs in a Jap restaurant is plain weird -_-'
I will think about returning.
