Last day of Year 2007, my 3rd sis decided to org some gathering for count down *read cow dung* in our house. So K and I decided to contribute Beef Rendang.

Ingredients are:
* Coconut milk
* A1 Instant Curry Paste (Ok fine, we used INSTANT this time -_-)
* Beef (tell the seller, u want to cook rendang and they will know what to sell u)
* Onion
* Blue Ginger
* A can of tomato paste
* One tomato
* Ginger
* Galangal
* Fresh tumeric
* Shallots
* Lemon grass
* Kaffir lime leaves

Blend these stuff together

A1 BEST ONE..ah yes its very good, tasty~

1. Fry the blended stuff till fragrant
2. Then add A1 paste...fry a while

3. Add beef
4. Add water and half the amt of coconut milk

5. Simmer for 2 hours...then add remaining coconut milk and tomatoes and tomato paste

6. simmer for 30 more min

Turns out that the beef seems quite ok after 2.5hrs simmering, but got leftovers still -_-

Cute cats and dogs i met in the past 3 mths (Dec 07 to Feb 08)

This post is dedicated to the cuties I have encountered recently... =D
This kitty is from Stirling Road area, at K's granny's hse..nice prints

Next, the brown kitty..very thin and it was sick during the dec monsoon season, kept sneezing and had watery eyes. We tried putting plastic sheets around it to give it more warmth..i was thinking we may suffocate it accidentally.. >_>''

X'mas gathering with ex colleagues, a colleague brought her fren along and each of them had a dog..kawaii Toy Poodle! I always thought it was a fake dog when I saw it in msn display pic..until one day I saw a pic of the dog snifing a sunflower..omg its real~

Do you know what this breed is? Its a chihuahua, never seen anything so pretty >.<

A tired dog, curled into a ball ball.

Looks on ernestly, shaking its tail~

We call this the Marsiling kitty, cos on a rainy day this cat appeared in the Marsiling mrt station.

So cute when it started rubba the pole dance..

This cat was spotted @ marsiling neighbourhood sleeping peacefully on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

This cat below is a killer..makes us super super "yoke-gan"..simply want to squeeze it! Suspected to be a maine coon, this breed is known to be big sized cats. Was on my way home to dinner, saw this kitty sleeping on its back..when I went over, it opened its eyes..saw no threat and continued sleeping >.<

Don't you feel contented lookin at them sometimes?

PotLuck Gathering ( 08/12/07 )

Friday, February 08, 2008 Posted by YY on 11:51 PM comments (0)

K organised this potluck gathering at his hse, and we were to present the following stuff:

Starters:
* Basil Pesto (Bread dip)
* Walnut Pesto (Bread dip)
* Freshly baked Baguette
* Sesame dressing salad with roasted garlic,bacon bits

Dessert:
* White Wine Grape Jelly

In order to prepare these by noon on 8th Dec, we started working on white wine jelly on 7th Dec after work..zzz~

Ingredients are mainly one bottle of Chardonnay(white grape wine), several cans of soda water(non sweetened), gelatine and of course white grapes. We went to get cups and spoons specially for this "event" too..cups were so ex, about $2 each from NTUC..eeeeeeek!

Putting white grapes into the cups

After boiling Chardonnay, with some other ingredients* i forgot..cos it happened like 2 mths ago..zzz~*, pour into cups after cooled. We attempted to remove the skin off the grapes but it was a futile attempt..so left it as it was.

The process of pouring in the wine+soda water must be very very slow, so as to retain the bubbles inside. After cooled, put clear wrap over top of cup and refrigerate for at least 2hrs.

*8th Dec, came early to prepare some other stuffs..and K was rambling about this failed baguette he did yesterday..so we redo right on the very morning of the gathering..

Roasted garlic and bacon bits

Sesame salad dressing, after mixing al ingredients..remember to sieve it to remove sesame bits which can be quite disturbing to taste buds..

=> Smooth creamy mixture is obtained

K's walnut pesto, this pesto tastes alittle like TUNA. We first tried it in Pasta Brava and managed to remake something similar this time round~ Yummy..and we had a few queries from the guests on what it was.

Basil Pesto..green slimy lookin..but hey tastes great with bread!

Freshly baked baguette

The cuts on the bread was done using this razor blade, we imitated the design of
this and "developed" this..so much cheaper..as the blade was from pasar malam =D

Baguette is dusted with flour before baking..nice smelling bread served with pesto

There's K with my theory on greatest enjoyment of life is sitting around, sipping wine and enjoying some good bread. -_-''

Salad..tossed when lunch is about to start

Main course was Carbonara..nv take pic. OK now for desserts, closeup after it set/harden. Look at the bubbles inside..

I thought it was boiled so...no more alcohol content,and I ate one whole cup happily..suddenly my face turned so redd..like monkey's butt and I dozed off on the sofa right after lunch while everyone was lookin at tour pics..lol? Looks like I cannot drink.. =(

Sidenote: Finally finished blogging on my HK Trip which i was dam lazy to finish..now to rush to finish all backlog..zzzzz~

Went to Menotti restaurant @ CityHall, its near the taxi stand at Raffles City.
Quiet place, with little crowd(weekdays..but heard its crowded for weekends) but not burning a hole in your pocket.

Squid Ink pasta, guarantee to turn your lips/tongue black w/o black lipstick, perfect for those who love gothic makeup..this won't fade as u eat, but gets darker as u eat =.='

I ordered crab meat pasta, not bad.

Ciabatta bread

Dessert..hmm~ I cant rem the name, cos its eons ago >_>'

This is the stalk of vanilla pod from the dessert, K used his tongue to tie it into a knot.

Can you do this?

Total dmg: About $53 incl svc charge, GST.
